Internet of Things, Internet of Everything, and Why Do You Care?

KesonKeson Khieu, CISSP, PMP
Information Security Officer

Nearly everything in your work, your home and your life is “connected” or is going to be connected to the internet. Cisco coined the term “Internet of Things” to depict this phenomenon.  You already talked to “Siri”. Your Nest thermostat understands you better than your spouse. Amazon.com is selling “Echo” that sits in your living room to listen to your every wish and command. The internet of things is making your lives more convenient but it is also presenting more security risks than you can imagine.  This talk takes you through a tour of the Internet of Things, how they affect your lives, and what you need to watch out for to protect your privacy.

Keson Khieu is an IT Manager with 20+ years of experience in Computer Systems, Networks and Servers. He is working as an Information Security Officer at a State Agency.  He is also a Computer Science professor at Sierra College, teaching Network Security in the context of Internet of Things. Keson is a Certified Information Security Systems Professional and a certified Project Management Professional.
